Aliathon Holiday Village, Cyprus, 2015
Irwin Mitchell’s specialist International Personal Injury team has been instructed by a family of 12 holidaymakers following their two week stay at the Aliathon Holiday Village, Cyprus, in May 2015.
The party travelled to the hotel to celebrate a special 70th birthday. However, 11 out of the 12 holidaymakers were struck by illness, seven of whom were admitted to hospital. The group suffered with symptoms including diarrhoea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
According to the guests, the cleanliness of the swimming pool may have been to blame for their illness as it had been closed on two occasions due to excrement being seen in the pool. The holidaymakers also complained that some of the food served in the buffet restaurant was not served at the right temperature. On return to the UK, two of the group party continued to suffer from illness.
Jatinder Paul, an international personal injury expert at Irwin Mitchell, said: “This was supposed to be a special holiday for the whole family as they booked it to celebrate a 70th birthday. Instead it was spoiled by hospital admissions and unfortunately it will be remembered by the family for all the wrong reasons.”
If you have travelled to the Aliathon Holiday Village and have also subsequently suffered from symptoms of illness, or sustained an injury, we would like to hear from you.

"We were very happy with the outcome of our case, especially as we were initially offered nothing from the Tour Operator. Irwin Mitchell were very professional throughout and we are very happy with the outcome."
