The International Personal Injury Team at Irwin Mitchell are concerned to learn of recent reports of guests falling ill with gastric symptoms during holidays taken at the Aliathon Holiday Village in Cyprus between June and November 2016.

Despite positive reviews, Irwin Mitchell have learnt of reports regarding holidaymakers who fell ill during a stay at the hotel. One holidaymaker claims that they did not see the “pool cleaned or the levels checked” whilst another claims that they saw “dirt, hair, plasters etc floating around” in the pool. Other holidaymakers report falling ill with gastric symptoms.

This is not the first time the hygiene standards at the Aliathon Holiday Village have come to our attention. In 2015 we were instructed to represent a family of 12, after all but one of them fell ill with gastric symptoms during their stay there. They had also raised concerns about the cleanliness of the pool and suspected this could have been the cause of their illness. 

Gastric symptoms can range from mild diarrhoea to abdominal cramps and blood in stools. Having significant experience in assisting those unfortunate enough to contract gastric illness we are all too aware that it is not just painful in the short term, but can also lead to long term complications, sometimes even resulting in permanent conditions such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
