Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado, 2014

Our specialist International Personal Injury team have been contacted by a holidaymaker who became ill during a stay at the Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado in Dominican Republic in September 2014.

The tourist travelled to the hotel in the Dominican Republic with their partner for a relaxing break, but during the holiday they began to experience symptoms of gastric illness. Their illness was so severe that on their return to the UK they were hospitalised, and still suffer the continuing effects of their illness to this day.

They reported that the food in the restaurant was on occasions cold and at times left uncovered, and that there was a distinct smell of sewage around the hotel grounds which gave them cause for concern.

Solicitor Jennifer Mullins, a travel injury expert representing the holidaymaker, said: "The holidaymaker is still experiencing symptoms as a result of their illness which demonstrates the potential complications which can arise as a result. We have begun our own investigations into the illness suffered in order to provide the holidaymaker with the answers they deserve."

If you have also travelled to the Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado in the Dominican Republic and have subsequently suffered from symptoms of illness, or sustained an injury, we'd like to hear from you. We specialise in dealing with cases of this nature and you may be due compensation.

"We were very happy with the outcome of our case, especially as we were initially offered nothing from the Tour Operator. Irwin Mitchell were very professional throughout and we are very happy with the outcome."
