Irwin Mitchell are concerned for holidaymakers who have stayed at the Catalonia Hotel, Dominican Republic, during January 2012 after reading reports of illness at the hotel. One holidaymaker has reported that he believed his illness was due to the health and hygiene standards practised at the resort.
Holidaymakers have suggested that the food was of a very poor standard with the food being served undercooked and often appeared that the same food was being served upon more than one occasion. It has also been reported that there were birds flying around the restaurants and landing on the tables.
Guests holidaying at the resort were falling ill with symptoms of stomach cramps, diarrhoea and vomiting. It is possible that the illnesses were due to a breakdown in food hygiene and food handling procedures.
