Irwin Mitchell’s International Personal Injury team are concerned to learn that guests have suffered illness following stays at the ClubHotel Riu Bachata in the Dominican Republic.
Despite some positive reviews, holidaymakers have reported that they became horribly sick with diarrhoea, vomiting and constant stomach pain. They also noted that their rooms were not always cleaned properly and had a funny odour. Another guests stated that some of the food was unpleasant with very little choice. They added that their appeared to be very little consideration given to hygiene.
A holidaymaker reported that they went on holiday to this hotel with a party of 27 people; only four out of the 27 did not suffer from illness. The group experienced symptoms including severe cramping and diarrhoea. The guest also said that following their return to the UK, they were diagnosed with E coli.
Another visitor expressed that they also became ill with food poisoning from the poor hygiene standards at the hotel. Their illness resulted in them having to see a doctor and receiving an intravenous drip. The guest noted that the food handling was appalling.
