Dreams Beach Resort - 2016
We’ve been contacted by a holidaymaker who fell ill while on holiday at the Dreams Beach Resort, Dominican Republic in February 2016.
He told us that he suffered from gastric illness during his stay: it was a particular source of disappointment that his holiday was ruined in this way as it was a special trip to celebrate his friend’s wedding.
His symptoms included diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach cramps and a fever. He administered medicines he had brought with him from the UK – but upon returning home his illness continued and he has since consulted his GP.
Although the hotel did have some positive reviews online, the man who contacted us expressed concern that on occasion food in the restaurant was left out for long periods of time during the sitting and some of the chicken that was cooked on the rotisserie was pink inside. He added that on occasion birds would fly through the restaurant.
Gastric symptoms can range from mild diarrhoea to abdominal cramps and blood in stools. We have significant experience helping those unlucky enough to contract gastric illness while on holiday. We’re very aware of the complications that can develop because of such illness, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The effects can sometimes develop into a problem that is long-term, or even permanent.
