The International Personal Injury Team at Irwin Mitchell are concerned by recent reports of guests falling ill with gastric symptoms during holidays taken at the Dreams La Romana Resort & Spa in the Dominican Republic between July and September 2017.

Despite positive reviews of the resort online, Irwin Mitchell have seen reports of holidaymakers falling ill during their stay. One holidaymaker claims that there were “rodent droppings on the balconies” and another claims that bar staff simply “dip a glass in water and refill” instead of cleaning it properly.

Some holidaymakers have also complained about the quality of the food - they say that the same utensils were used for raw and cooked meats and that meat was served undercooked.

A couple on holiday fell ill with symptoms including diarrhoea and stomach cramps. They sought medical attention at the hotel. Other holidaymakers have also reported suffering similar symptoms including a large group of holidaymakers where 15 in the party suffered illness.

Gastric symptoms can range from mild diarrhoea to abdominal cramps and blood in stools.
