Dreams La Romana, Dominican Republic
Irwin Mitchell is investigating the Dreams La Romana resort in the Dominican Republic after a couple fell ill on their holiday.
In January 2015, the holidaymakers travelled abroad together for the first time only to fall ill just four days into their stay. They both contracted gastric illness, suffering from diarrhoea and vomiting. The couple were confined to their hotel room for 24 hours.
One of the pair has been reportedly diagnosed with shigella (an internal disease caused by bacteria) and has suffered gastric symptoms since her return, preventing her from going to work. The couple received medical attention whilst at the resort and were prescribed with antibiotics and rehydration tablets.
Gurjeet Bhamber, a specialist international personal injury lawyer, said: “This was supposed to be a memorable holiday for the couple as it was their first holiday abroad together. Instead, it was ruined by illness and has had a lasting effect on one holidaymaker.
“Irwin Mitchell has also dealt with previous complaints from holidaymakers who have stayed at this hotel and suffered illness in January 2014. If you have travelled to the Dreams La Romana resort and subsequently suffered from symptoms of illness or sustained an injury, we would like to hear from you.”
