Hotel Riu Palace Bavaro
We're concerned to learn of recent reports of guests falling ill with gastric symptoms during holidays taken at the Hotel Riu Palace Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic between January and April 2016.
Despite positive reviews, we're also aware that some holidaymakers fell ill during their stay at the hotel. One guest claims that some of the food in the cold buffet area smelled off. Other holidaymakers report falling ill with gastric symptoms, and one guest contracted salmonella following their stay at the resort.
Salmonella is a bacteria infection in the intestine. The same group of bacteria causes typhoid fever, food poisoning, gastroenteritis, enteric fever and other serious illnesses. Infection is mostly through contaminated food or drink - especially meat, poultry and eggs.
Gastric symptoms can range from mild diarrhoea to abdominal cramps and blood in stools. We have significant experience assisting those unfortunate enough to contract gastric illness and so we know first hand the long term effects that can potentially result from such illness, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
If you also travelled to the Hotel Riu Palace Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic and have subsequently suffered from symptoms of illness, we'd like to hear from you. We specialise in dealing with cases like this and you may be due compensation.
For more advice on making a holiday illness claim, contact us on 0800 056 0066 or complete our enquiry form and we will call you back.

"We were very happy with the outcome of our case, especially as we were initially offered nothing from the Tour Operator. Irwin Mitchell were very professional throughout and we are very happy with the outcome."
