Illness at Barcelo Hotel, Dominican Republic
It has been reported that holiday makers have become ill with symptoms of gastric illness after staying at the Barcelo Hotel in the Dominican Republic in August 2009.
Guests have reportedly become ill with symptoms of gastric illness possibly due to poor standards of hygiene at the hotel. Guests claim that items served in the buffet area in particular meat and eggs were undercooked and many of the buffet dishes were reheated or mixed with other food and reserved. Guests allege that there were many insects on and around the food. The restaurant area was dirty and standards of food preparation were reportedly poor.
