Illness Reported at Grand Paradise Bavaro and Barcelo Dominican Beach Resort
Irwin Mitchell is increasingly concerned for holidaymakers who have travelled to the all inclusive Grand Paradise Bavaro and the Barcelo Dominican Beach Resort Bavaro, located in the Dominican Republic, where there have been further reports of holidaymakers returning from their holidays reporting symptoms of gastric illness. This issue has been continuing for a number of months and the most recent reports are dated for September 2010.
Holidaymakers are returning with symptoms of diarrhoea, stomach cramps, headaches and fever which last for several days.
Guests of the Grand Paradise Bavaro and the Barcelo Dominican Beach have suggested that their illness may be the result of poor standards of hygiene at the restaurant, where birds were allowed to defecate throughout the restaurant, onto cutlery, tables and the food. Multiple reports suggest that holidaymakers have become ill with suspected food poisoning, possibly as a result of poor food hygiene standards and issues with the quality of food consumed at the hotel. Reports suggest that the food was unvaried and was not kept at the correct temperatures.
Others have reported vomit in the swimming pool, left unattended to float on the surface of the water.
Unsurprisingly, a number of guests have contracted symptoms of illness, similar to that of food poisoning. Some holidaymakers were hospitalised whilst abroad and placed on IV drips.
