Majestic Colonial Hotel, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Irwin Mitchell has received reports of gastric illness contracted by holidaymakers after staying at the Majestic Colonial Hotel in the Dominican Republic in 2012.

It is possible that the illnesses experienced by holidaymakers were due to a breakdown in food handling and food hygiene procedures and some guests at the hotel have reportedly been diagnosed as suffering from Shigella, which is also known as Shigellosis. Shigella is a form of gastric illness that can cause severe diarrhoea, vomiting, fever and other associated symptoms and can be caused by poor food hygiene standards.

There have been reports of lukewarm meat dishes being served in the main buffet with many holidaymakers complaining about the standard of the food served to them.

If you also travelled to this hotel and suffered from gastric illness, Irwin Mitchell would like to hear from you as you may be able to claim for your ruined holiday, and also, the pain and suffering caused by the illness that you sustained.

For more advice on making a holiday illness claim, contact Irwin Mitchell on 0800 056 0066 or complete our enquiry form and we will call you back.
