Occidental Grand Flamenco, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic - September 2011
Irwin Mitchell are concerned for holidaymakers after reading reports of illness amongst guests staying at the Occidental Grand Flamenco, Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic during September 2011. It is not the first time that standards at this hotel have been questioned, we were previously approached by clients who holidayed in various months during 2010 and we are also acting for holidaymakers who became ill at this hotel in 2007.
Recent reports from holidaymakers claim that this was their "worst holiday ever". They reported that the shower did not work, there was no hot water and there was a smell of mould and damp. The toilet was always blocked and the resort regularly smelt of sewage.
Referring to the food, it has been suggested that the choice was poor and bland. It is also suggested that the food was not served hot. It is possible that a breakdown in food handling procedures resulted in the illnesses contracted. One holidaymaker has described how he sought medical attention upon his return to the UK and that he still does not feel that his health has returned to normal.
If you also travelled to this hotel and have subsequently suffered from symptoms of gastric illness, Irwin Mitchell, who specialise in dealing with cases of such nature, would like to hear from you if you have suffered from gastric illness after staying at this hotel.
