Riu Palace Punta Cana Hotel

Irwin Mitchell is alarmed for holidaymakers who intend to holiday at the Riu Palace Punta Cana Hotel after reading further reports of holidaymakers contracting symptoms of gastric illness during their holidays taken in November 2011. We have previously read reports of illness amongst holidaymakers at this hotel in July 2011.

A variety of complaints relating to the food served at the hotel have been reported, particularly suggesting that food is served cold, the table linen is dirty and that staff did not appear to be washing their hands when handling the food. It is also reported that mould would grow on white clothing and that there were insects all over the coffee making facilities in the room.

It is reported that holidaymakers were suffering from severe abdominal cramps and diarrhoea. The symptoms were so severe that they had to seek medical attention whilst abroad.

It is possible that the illnesses contracted by holidaymakers were as a result of the lack of food hygiene procedures practised at the hotel.

One honeymooning couple recalled how they experienced bugs in their room, the beds were uncomfortable and that the rooms were musty, mouldy and damp.
