Irwin Mitchell is investigating the Royalton Punta Cana Resort after reports that holidaymakers fell ill with gastric symptoms.

A party of 12 stayed at the hotel, only for their holiday to be ruined when two of the group suffered with severe abdominal pain and diarrhoea.

Despite some positive reviews on Trip Advisor, previous guests have raised their concerns in relation to the food hygiene practice at the hotel. A guest reportedly found hair in their food and on another occasion, the beef was said to have smelled strange. Reports on Trip Advisor also indicate that the food was exceptionally poor and several guests claim to have suffered with gastric symptoms. One review specifies that a guest suffered with bloody diarrhoea which could indicate a bacterial illness such as E-coli.
