Irwin Mitchell is concerned for holidaymakers after reading that there has been further problems of illness at the Amwaj Oyoun Hotel in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt during June 2011. Irwin Mitchell has previously been approached by clients to act on their behalf after contracting illness following their holidays at the hotel.
It was alleged by our clients that holidaymakers have been affected by an outbreak of food poisoning at the resort. This is further supported by recent reports from holidaymakers who have stayed at the hotel. More recent reports have indicated a further outbreak of illness and it is said that holidaymakers are suffering from symptoms of a gastric nature, to include severe stomach cramps and diarrhoea.
Irwin Mitchell believes that the illness could be attributed to food poisoning, possibly caused by lack of proper hygiene procedures relating to the food provided at the resort. One of the holidaymakers tested positive for salmonella on their return to the UK, which is a severe form of bacterial infection which can leave those who contracted the infection with permanent symptoms.
Holidaymakers complained that food was covered in sauces and they did not know what they were eating, also that the eggs were dark and overcooked. Other reports have indicated that the choice of food was limited, that food was served cold and that the hotel is suffering from poor maintenance.
