Imperial Sharms Hotel, Egypt

Irwin Mitchell were made aware of an outbreak of illness at the Imperial Sharms Hotel in Egypt that occurred in the summer of 2008 after their clients’ holidays at the hotel were ruined due to their hospitalisation.

Travel law experts at Irwin Mitchell are acting for the group of holidaymakers, many of whom suffered serious gastric illness while staying at the all-inclusive hotel. After arriving at the hotel many guests fell ill, suffering from symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting and abdominal cramps. Many of the clients suffered weight loss resulting from their gastric illnesses.

Guests have made numerous complaints of poor standards such as undercooked food, as well as food not being served at the correct temperature. Many complained uncovered food with large number of flies crawling over the food on numerous occasions.

For one such couple, the holiday was doomed from the moment they stepped off the coach at their destination where they were told by a Thomas Cook representative that they were not actually staying in the hotel that they had booked due to overbooking. The couple were then kept in Egypt against their will as their calls to be returned home to the UK were repeatedly ignored.
