Nubian Village Hotel, Sharm El Sheikh, 2015
Our International Personal Injury team is currently working with a British family who fell ill while on holiday at the Nubian Village Hotel in Sharm El Sheikh, Egpyt during October 2015.
The family’s symptoms included stomach cramps, diarrhoea, tiredness, coughing, headaches, lethargy and muscle pains. At least one continued to suffer with gastric illness after returning home, and another developed even more serious health complications.
Despite the Nubian Village Hotel having some positive reviews, some guests have complained about food being left uncovered for long periods and not being served at the correct temperatures. There are also accounts of fresh food being poured on top of old food. One guest reported that the swimming pool appeared to be contaminated with faeces after it wasn’t cleaned properly following an earlier incident.
One member of the British family we’re working with visited his GP when he got back to the UK and was diagnosed with Legionnaires’ disease.
Legionnaires’ disease is a serious lung infection caused by legionella bacteria. Initial symptoms usually include flu-like symptoms, such as mild headaches, muscle pain, high temperature, chills and fatigue. It’s usually caused by inhaling small droplets of contaminated water and can be prevented by ensuring water systems are properly maintained and conform to relevant health and safety regulations.
In some cases, Legionnaires’ disease can lead to further, life-threatening problems. Severe infection can cause some organs, such as lungs or kidneys, to stop working properly. Another complication is septic shock. An estimated 10% of otherwise healthy people who develop Legionnaires’ disease die because of these problems.
We specialise in helping people get the right compensation and support when they need it most. We have recovered money for tens of thousands of people struck down by illness both at home and abroad.
If you’ve travelled to the Nubian Village Hotel, in Sharm El Sheikh, and subsequently suffered from illness, we’d like to hear from you.

"We were very happy with the outcome of our case, especially as we were initially offered nothing from the Tour Operator. Irwin Mitchell were very professional throughout and we are very happy with the outcome."
