Specialist international personal injury lawyers at Irwin Mitchell have been contacted by a family following their two week stay at the Sharm Plaza Hotel, Egypt, in June 2015.
The holidaymakers travelled to the hotel in Egypt for their annual family holiday. However, they all fell ill a week into their stay with severe gastric illness. The family continue to suffer with symptoms upon their return to the UK, which include diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain, dizziness and dehydration.
One of the family members has advised that they had to consult the hotel doctor when medication brought from the pharmacy abroad failed to help their symptoms. The guest has also advised that the doctor injected and prescribed strong medication for the gastric symptoms.
The holidaymakers noticed that the food at the hotel was often undercooked and of a poor quality. Dishes were reportedly left uncovered for long periods and were lukewarm. They noticed that there were also often flies and birds around the food and expressed that most of the plates, cups and glasses in the restaurant were cracked.
The family described that the swimming pool contained numerous dead flies and mosquitos. Furthermore, one holidaymaker has reported that they found a vast number of red ants in their bed and around their hotel room.
