The International Personal Injury team at Irwin Mitchell is concerned to learn of recent reports relating to guests who contracted gastric illness after holidaying at the Steigenberger Aqua Magic Hotel in Egypt earlier this year.

Despite some positive reviews, Irwin Mitchell has learnt that holidaymakers have described the food as ‘inedible’ and have also expressed concerns regarding the level of hygiene at the resort. One guest stated that a chef ‘handled raw liver and then other food stuff without cleaning his hands’ and ‘tables were not cleaned with food left everywhere’.

Some guests expressed concern over the state of rooms having noted that ‘the maid used the same brush to clean the toilet and sink’ and that the suite had ‘a smell of damp/mould which stayed for the duration of the stay’. Another holidaymaker reported that they had to spend an entire day in bed due to a bad stomach and another guest said that their family of four all fell ill during their stay.
