Irwin Mitchell are concerned to read that a number of British holidaymakers are reporting illness following their stay at the Sunrise Holidays Resort in Hurghada, Egypt, during July and September 2017.

Various holidaymakers report experiencing symptoms including sickness, diarrhoea and stomach cramps. One couple described how they were ill for four days of their seven day holiday in September 2017. Another holidaymaker reports how they still had a bad stomach when they got home even after taking the antibiotics given to them when they left the resort.

Despite some positive reviews of the resort online, some holidaymakers have reported that they were disappointed with standards at the hotel.

One reported a stained bathroom bowl and a rusted bathroom plug filled with previous guests' hair and skin. They also reported a toilet brush ‘covered in other guest's faecal matter’. The holidaymaker was also concerned that raw meat was cooked alongside cooked meat.

Another guest reports observing ‘the chef cooking chicken on the BBQ outside and then putting the cooked chicken back into the container he had taken the raw chicken out of to cook.’ The same holidaymaker reports grime around the bath/shower, previous guests' hair in the plug hole and stains on their quilt.

Gastric symptoms can range from mild diarrhoea to abdominal cramps and blood in the stools.
