Sunrise Select Royal Makadi Resort, 2015
Irwin Mitchell’s international personal injury lawyers are concerned to learn that holidaymakers became ill whilst staying at the Sunrise Select Royal Makadi Resort, in Egypt, during September and October 2015.
The guests have reported contracting gastrointestinal illness and Salmonella poisoning, with symptoms including diarrhoea, abdominal pain, lethargy and weight loss. The illness resulted in the holidaymakers being hospitalised.
The visitors noticed that a lot of the food served in the hotel’s restaurant was lukewarm and on occasions it was completely cold. They also suggested that old food was topped up with new food and reported that the hotel’s pool had algae floating on the surface, with grout that seemed to be black with mould.
Jennifer Mullins, an expert international personal injury lawyer at Irwin Mitchell who is representing the group, said: “I am concerned to hear of the hygiene standards reported by guests at the Sunrise Select Royal Makadi Resort in Egypt.
“We will now request that a thorough investigation takes place so these holidaymakers secure the answers they need, as well as investigating anything which may be done to improve safety and prevent others from being affected in the future.”
If you have also travelled to the Sunrise Select Royal Makadi Resort in Egypt, and subsequently suffered from symptoms of illness, we would like to hear from you.
