Hotel Christina, Macot La Plagne, France
The International Travel Litigation team at Irwin Mitchell, which specialises in cases of food poisoning in the UK and abroad, has been contacted by holidaymakers after their return from a skiing holiday to Macot La Plagne in France where they stayed at the Hotel Christina.
After staying at the Hotel Christina one young holidaymaker had to receive medical treatment after they became ill with symptoms which included diarrhoea and sickness. At least 15 other guests were reported to have become ill with similar symptoms. One such holidaymaker is reported to have been so ill that she collapsed and had to attend the local hospital where she was placed on a drip.
One holidaymaker noticed that the bed linen provided was stained with vomit and was advised by staff at the hotel that Illness had been affecting guests at the hotel for at least a week before their arrival.
It is possible that the illnesses experienced by holidaymakers were due to a breakdown in food handling and food hygiene procedures, as well as a failure to prevent and maintain the spread of illness amongst holidaymakers.
