Illness at Le Viking Hotel, France
Irwin Mitchell currently act for over 15 holidaymakers who are proceeding with claims following a holiday to the Le Viking Hotel in France.
The group of 15, the majority of whom are families, arranged an organised skiing holiday to the Le Viking Hotel. However, after arriving at the hotel most of the group fell ill suffering from symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting and abdominal cramps.
It is understood that there were previous visitors to the hotel a few weeks earlier, prior to the skiing trip to the hotel, and members of that group also suffered from gastric illness as a result of their stay. Despite such an illness outbreak in the weeks preceding the skiing groups visit to the Le Viking Hotel the holidaymakers were not warned prior to travelling to France that there was a problem with illness at the hotel.
The group have stated that parts of the Hotel were inadequately maintained. Guests complained that the staff were unhygienic, furniture and shower equipment was faulty, there were rooms undergoing refurbishment which were not sufficiently safe, there was mould on the ceiling of the hotel and the water in the swimming pool was smelly and cold.
Guests also complained that the food served at the Hotel looked undercooked, reheated and sometimes appeared reserved. Guests recall eating eggs and chicken which they did not regard as adequately cooked. Guests also noted that the standard of food preparation in the restaurant was poor and that the eating area did not appear very clean and often noticed they were using dirty utensils.
The Defendant has now made a full admission of liability on this case.
