Illness at Kassandra Palace, Greece
Irwin Mitchell currently act for 10 holidaymakers who are proceeding with claims following a holiday to the Kassandra Palace Hotel in Greece.
The group of 10, which consisted of 2 families, arranged a family holiday to the Kassandra Palace Hotel. However, after arriving at the hotel most of the group fell ill suffering from symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and 4 were diagnosed with Salmonella food poisoning.
The families were not warned prior to travelling to Greece that there was a problem with illness at the hotel.
The group have stated that parts of the Hotel were inadequately maintained. Guests complained that the staff were unhygienic, the bar area was dirty with lots of animals and insects around it, there were cracked tiles in swimming pool, electrical cables were hanging out of plug sockets in the bedrooms and there were holes in the floors of the corridors.
Guests also complained that the food served at the Hotel looked undercooked, under heated and sometimes appeared recycled. Guests recall eating meat which they did not regard as adequately cooked. There were reports of meat being served with blood dripping out of it. Guests also noted that the staff in the restaurant area did not appear very clean and there were often many insects around it.
The families also complained about the dangerous conditions at the hotel. There was a hole in the floor in one of the corridors which caused one of the children in the group, to trip and injure their toe. Furthermore the small pool and surrounding pool area was extremely dirty and the grids around it were loose causing one of the children to trip and fall.
