Katrin Suites, Crete, 2015
Irwin Mitchell’s International Personal Injury team has been contacted by a British couple after they fell ill after staying at the Katrin Suites hotel in Crete, on an all-inclusive basis, during August 2015.
One of the guests experienced symptoms of gastric illness, including diarrhoea and fever. They had to seek treatment from their GP and were admitted to their local hospital for around four days after returning to the UK. This resulted in having to take time off work. A stool sample was taken which tested positive for Campylobacter.
Other guests have also highlighted concerns relating to the hotel, despite their being some positive reviews on consumer review websites. Holidaymakers noted that some of the food was served lukewarm, some was left uncovered for long periods of time and flies were seen on some of the dishes being served in the hotel’s buffet restaurant.
