Marelen Hotel, Greece, 2016
Our specialist International Personal Injury Team has been instructed by over twenty holidaymakers following their holidays at the Marelen Hotel in Zante, Greece, in August 2016.
During their stay at the hotel, the holidaymakers began to experience serious gastric illness symptoms including diarrhoea and vomiting. On their return home, a number of the holidaymakers continued to suffer with illness and sought medical treatment from their GPs. Six of them were later diagnosed with cryptosporidium, a serious parasitic infection.
The holidaymakers complained that the swimming pool was “dirty and in disrepair” and that a stool was seen in the water which was fished out with a net after some time.
Jatinder Paul, an Associate Solicitor and specialist in International Personal Injury cases at Irwin Mitchell, said “We are concerned to hear reports of cryptosporidium at the Marelen Hotel. Unfortunately for these holidaymakers, their holidays were ruined as a result of serious infections and their breaks will be remembered for all of the wrong reasons. We will now be conducting our own investigations as to the cause of these illnesses.”
If you also stayed at the Marelen Hotel this summer and suffered illness, Irwin Mitchell’s specialist International Personal Injury team would like to hear from you. You may be able to claim compensation for your ruined holiday and for the pain and suffering caused by the illness that you have contracted.

"We were very happy with the outcome of our case, especially as we were initially offered nothing from the Tour Operator. Irwin Mitchell were very professional throughout and we are very happy with the outcome."
