Gran Bahia Principe, Runaway Bay, Jamaica - 2013
Irwin Mitchell is concerned to learn of reports of illness at the Gran Bahia Principe Hotel, Runaway Bay, Jamaica, during holidays taken in June 2013.
Holidaymakers have reported suffering from symptoms of diarrhoea, stomach cramps and having to go to the toilet up to 15 times a day. Because of these symptoms, they were unable to take advantage of all the hotel facilities and missed pre-booked excursions which they were not refunded for.
One holidaymaker has reported that, on their return from the holiday, they sought medical attention and were confirmed to be suffering from a Salmonella infection. They have been prescribed antibiotics and follow up investigations have been recommended.
Salmonella is a severe form of food poisoning often caused by a lack of hygiene procedures when handling food. The bacterial infection will often result in symptoms of diarrhoea, stomach cramps and lethargy and can also cause severe permanent symptoms.
Irwin Mitchell has previously represented holidaymakers returning from the Gran Bahia Principe Hotel in 2011, 2010 and 2009. Reports at the time indicated that some of the food provided by the hotel was lacking in quality and could be the cause of the illnesses. The food has been compared to cafeteria quality and it is said that there was a limited selection.
If you also travelled to this resort and have subsequently suffered from symptoms of gastric illness or sustained an injury, Irwin Mitchell, who specialise in dealing with cases of such nature, would like to hear from you.

"We were very happy with the outcome of our case, especially as we were initially offered nothing from the Tour Operator. Irwin Mitchell were very professional throughout and we are very happy with the outcome."
