Irwin Mitchell’s International Personal Injury team has been instructed to act on behalf of a child who was hospitalised due to illness following a stay at the all-inclusive Hi! Bouganvilla Park, Sa Coma, in Majorca, during August 2015.

Despite some positive reviews, concerns have been raised regarding the hygiene standards at the hotel. The mother of the child told us that the food in the hotel restaurant didn’t appear to be properly cooked and on occasions, pink pork and bloody chicken was served. The hot food on the hotel buffet has also been described as often only being lukewarm in temperature.

The family expressed that on occasions they saw faeces in the hotel’s swimming pool and said that there was a smell of sewage, with bins around the pool often overflowing by the end of the day.

After falling ill just days into their holiday, the young British holidaymaker was treated by the hotel doctor. On a second visit to the hotel doctor, the family was advised that hospital treatment was required and an ambulance was called. The child was admitted to hospital overnight.

Other guests who have also stayed at the hotel in August have reported a number of alarming concerns including: suffering from stomach upsets, a smell around the pool area, seeing faeces in the swimming pool, poor food standards and describing the hotel as “generally run down.”

Irwin Mitchell will be investigating why the child became ill and hope to work with the tour operator to establish the facts and obtain justice.
