It has been reported that holiday makers have become ill with symptoms of gastric illness after staying at the Aquamarina Beach in Mexico in March 2009.
 
Guests have reportedly become ill with symptoms of gastric illness possibly due to poor standards of hygiene at the hotel. Guests claim that meat items such as hamburgers were pink when served and many of the buffet dishes were undercooked. Guests allege that there were many insects on and around the food. Guests allege that the hygiene standards were poor and guests noticed that the same tongs were used to handle raw and cooked meat.
