Illness at Gran Bahia Principe Riviera Maya Resort
Customers staying at the Gran Bahia Principe Resort have contacted Irwin Mitchell telling us of their terrible holiday experiences at this hotel.
Holidaymakers who have stayed at the resort have contracted symptoms of diarrhoea, sickness, abdominal pain and suffering from sweats and shakes. One holidaymaker told us of how she started coughing up blood and passed out due to her gastric illness. She was seen by the hotel Doctor and was referred to a hospital where she was examined and medicated for her symptoms.
There are serious failings being made by this hotel according to the holidaymakers who have stayed at the hotel and contacted us. It has been said that - “the food was of a very poor standard and it was dried up and looked like it had been there for days”. The chicken appeared bloody and under cooked; the fish was raw and inedible as well as dirty cutlery and glasses. One couple celebrating their honeymoon became seriously ill and have stated “we had major concerns about the standard of hygiene at the hotel”.
Another holidaymaker who contacted us told us of an air conditioning problem which resulted in the room they were staying in being always 15 degrees in temperature. The cold and the humidity made the room soaking wet to the point where the couple had to sleep in plastic bags because the mattress was so damp. There was also mould on the fittings and a pungent damp smell in the room. They were refused a heater by staff and eventually had to move rooms.
We have also been informed that when complaints were made by holidaymakers nothing was done and on one occasion a holidaymaker who was suffering from illness was treated aggressively by a staff member.
