Grand Oasis Cancun, 2016 - Compensation Awarded
We’ve secured compensation of £12,500 for a holidaymaker who contracted salmonella following his stay at the Grand Oasis in Mexico in March 2014.
The tourist suffered from symptoms including diarrhoea and abdominal pains while on holiday at the hotel. When he returned to the UK he was diagnosed as suffering from a salmonella infection.
He continued to suffer from IBS-type symptoms over a year after the holiday.
The holidaymaker raised a number of concerns about hygiene standards at the hotel, noting that the chicken and omelettes were served undercooked and flies were seen around the food.
We negotiated compensation for the gentleman even though the tour operator did not admit responsibility for their guest’s illness.

The Grand Oasis has again been the subject of concern after guests last year reported troubling instances of sub-par hygiene and food standard.
