Grand Riviera Princess Resort, 2016 - Compensation Awarded

Our International Personal Injury team successfully recovered compensation for four holidaymakers who fell ill with gastric illness while staying at the Grand Riviera Princess hotel in Mexico in the summer of 2013.

The holidaymakers were travelling in two groups and all fell ill with symptoms including diarrhoea and abdominal pain. One client continued to suffer symptoms several years after the holiday.

We secured a five-figure settlement from the tour operator TUI UK Ltd on behalf of the four holidaymakers.

The tourists raised concerns that on occasions food was left uncovered for long periods of time and that there were sometimes flies and ants around it. On a number of occasions they also saw fresh food being added to food that was already out. 

In 2013 we expressed our concern upon finding out about these and other troubling reports of food and hygiene standards at the resort. We’re also aware of reports from last year relating to guests’ dissatisfaction with the cleanliness of the hotel and gastric illness they suffered.
