Specialist international personal injury lawyers from Irwin Mitchell have been instructed by a family of four holidaymakers following their two week stay at the Great Parnassus Resort & Spa hotel, Mexico, in August 2015.
The family travelled to the hotel in Mexico to celebrate two birthdays and a wedding anniversary. However, three of them fell ill with severe gastric symptoms including diarrhoea, vomiting, nausea and abdominal pains. They sought on-site medical attention and were given intravenous injections along with antibiotics.
They were unable to enjoy the majority of their holiday due to the extent of their symptoms and spent a significant amount of their time in their room. They noticed that on occasions, some of the food was left uncovered for long periods of time, and that occasionally some of the food was re-hashed for later service. Despite a number of positive reviews on consumer websites such as Trip Advisor, there are also reports of grime in the swimming pool and reports of repetitive food.
Having significant experience in assisting those unfortunate enough to contract gastric illness we know first-hand the potential long term effects that can be associated with such illness, with sometimes permanent long term complications arising such as post-infective Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). We will be investigating the cause of illness on behalf of those holidaymakers who have contacted us to determine how they fell ill.
