Our International Personal Injury team are concerned to learn about more outbreaks of gastric illness at the Iberostar Cancun in Mexico from earlier this year.
We're aware of reports of sickness from guests who stayed at the hotel between February and April in 2016. This is not the first instance of a poor hygiene record at the resort: guests who stayed there last year between July and August also reported falling ill with gastric illness. They also suffered bed bug bites during their stay.
Among positive reports of the hotel are worrying accounts of food being served that was inedible and often lukewarm. Other guests have raised concerns over the state of the hotel, claiming that rainwater came in through the windows and ruined luggage and belongings as it dripped from the ceiling.
Alarmingly, one visitor is believed to have contracted e-coli during his stay and had to spend four days in hospital upon his return home.
