Irwin Mitchell currently acts for 8 Claimants who are proceeding with claims following a holiday to the Iberostar Cozumel in Mexico.
The group of 8 were guests travelling out to a wedding party in the resort. However, after arriving at the hotel most of the group fell ill suffering from symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting and abdominal cramps.
It is understood that due to the open plan of the hotel, exotic wildlife was seen to have free access to the dining area. Birds would free fly around the food areas, and creatures such as tortoises and turtles were common around the hotel. Guests have also complained of free roaming cats which were seen in and around the hotel.
Guests also complained that the food served at the Hotel looked undercooked, under heated and sometimes appeared recycled from previous meals. Guests recall eating fish which they did not regard as adequately cooked. Guests also noted that the staff in the restaurant area did not appear very clean and often noticed they were wearing dirty shirts.
