Irwin Mitchell has been alarmed by holidaymakers of reports of illness amongst guests staying at the Jade Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa, Morelos Yucatan Peninsula, in Mexico during January 2011.

Holidaymakers have suggested that they were completely dissatisfied with the complete holiday package they received. Reviews have suggested that the rooms were inadequately cleaned, the rooms were infested with bugs which would bite, the bed linen was not changed and the rooms smelt damp.

It has also been suggested that the hotel's restaurants could not adequately cater for all the guests, leaving many guests to eat in the buffet restaurant. The quality of the food has been reported to be very poor and it looked as if the food had been sitting out for a while. It has been suggested that because of the poor standards practiced at the hotel, a large number of guests experienced symptoms of gastric illness, believed to be food poisoning.
