Illness at Reef Club, Mexico
Irwin Mitchell currently acts for over 20 Claimants who are proceeding with claims following a holiday to the Reef Club in Mexico.
The majority of whom are families, arranged their holidays with different Tour Operators. However, after arriving most of the group fell ill suffering from symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting and abdominal cramps. Some of the holidaymakers required hospital treatment.
It is understood that there were previous visitors to the hotel a few weeks earlier and members of that group also suffered from gastric illness as a result of their stay. Despite such an illness outbreak in the previous weeks, holidaymakers were not warned prior to travelling to Mexico that there was a problem with illness at the hotel.
The group have stated that parts of the hotel were inadequately maintained. Guests have complained that there were cockroaches and flies seen in and around the restaurant area.
Guests have also complained that the food served was often undercooked, and not at the correct temperature. Some of the dairy products were not correctly chilled and were at times warm.
