Irwin Mitchell have received reports of illness, believed to be food poisoning, at the Riu Cancun Hotel, Yucatan Peninsula, in Mexico during holidays taken in April 2012.
Guests have reported how they fell ill with symptoms of gastric illness, usually including symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach cramps, after consuming food provided by the hotel. One holiday report has recalled how, out of their holidaying party of 11, all of them felt ill at some point during their holiday.
Holidaymakers have also reported how the water supplied to their bathroom smelt funny, the towels were too rough and the beds were uncomfortable.
It is possible that a breakdown in food handling and hygiene procedures resulted in the illnesses experienced by holidaymakers.
