Irwin Mitchell has received enquiries from British holidaymakers who suffered gastric illness during their holidays in May 2010 at the Beach Club Torremolinos Hotel on the Costa del Sol.
The holidaymakers have reported various complaints about standards at the hotel including that hot food was served lukewarm and cold food was not properly chilled. Some food was also left uncovered, and new food was added to trays of old food. Concerns have also been raised about food left over at the end of one meal being rehashed and served again at the next meal.
The Spanish hotel was previously at the heart of a £2.5m compensation pay out to over 950 British holidaymakers represented by Irwin Mitchell after they took legal action following illness at the resort between 2000 and 2002. In the summer of 2002 when the problems were at their worst a number of tour operators stopped sending guests to the hotel. The latest outbreak of illness at the Beach Club Torremolinos Hotel has dismayed travel law experts at Irwin Mitchell.
As well as acting for 950 guests who became ill at the Beach Club between 2000 and 2002, Irwin Mitchell have also won compensation for dozens of other British guests who became ill at this hotel during stays at other times. The firm also continues to represent nearly 90 other unfortunate guests who suffered illness while staying at the hotel in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
