Columbus Hotel, Playa De Las Americas
Irwin Mitchell has been approached to act for holidaymakers who travelled to the Columbus Hotel, Playa De Las Americas, in Tenerife in January 2011 and fell ill with unpleasant gastric illnesses including one guest suffering with Salmonella.
Having learned of their experiences at this resort Irwin Mitchell has become increasingly concerned about the standard of health and hygiene at this hotel. Holidaymakers contracted symptoms such as diarrhoea, severe abdominal pain, nausea, high temperatures and lethargy.
The holidaymakers have made complaints regarding the quality and standard of the hotel. Poor hygiene issues have been raised with regards to the restaurant. The food was lukewarm and the eggs and meat appeared undercooked.
Having been admitted to hospital on return to the UK one holidaymaker sought advice from their GP, samples were taken and results came back positive showing Salmonella. A number of holidaymakers are still suffering with diarrhoea symptoms.
