Irwin Mitchell’s international personal injury specialists have been instructed by a family following their stay at the Globales Playa Estepona, in the Costa Del Sol, from May to June 2015.
The family travelled to the hotel in Spain for a relaxing family holiday but four of the group started to suffer from illness just a few days into their holiday. The holidaymakers experienced symptoms including severe diarrhoea and abdominal pain. Their illness continued when they returned to the UK and two of the family members had to visit their GP. Stool samples were taken and both of them tested positive for Cryptosporidium.
Public Health Officers have been in contact with the family members and have told one of them that she cannot return to work in her role as a nursery owner for several weeks.
The holidaymakers have reported that some of the food served in the hotel restaurant was undercooked and on some occasions, was left out for long periods of time. There were also instances where the guests witnessed hot food being poured over cold food. In addition, the family reported that the same food that was served for lunch was reheated and served again in the evening.
Jatinder Paul, a solicitor at Irwin Mitchell, said: “Our clients’ holidays were ruined due to gastric illness and their holiday will now be remembered for all of the wrong reasons.
“We will be conducting our own investigations in to our clients’ illness and suggest that the hotel management take similar steps.”
