Holiday Village, Costa Del Sol, 2015

Irwin Mitchell’s international personal injury lawyers have been instructed by a family of holidaymakers following their week-long stay at the Holiday Village Hotel, in the Costa Del Sol, in April 2015.

The party of five travelled to the hotel in Spain for a fun-filled family holiday but illness soon struck four out of the five guests. They suffered symptoms including diarrhoea, vomiting and abdominal pain,

They holidaymakers reported that some of the food was undercooked, noting that some of the sausages were pink inside. They also noticed that some of the food was served lukewarm and some of the dishes at the restaurant appeared to be re-heated. There are also reports that some of the food was replenished by ‘pouring’ hot food on top of existing dishes and guests observed that birds and flies were frequently seen in the restaurant, especially around the buffet area. The holidaymakers have said that on one occasion excrement was seen in the swimming pool.

Jatinder Paul, a specialist international personal injury solicitor at Irwin Mitchell, said: “This was supposed to be a fun and relaxing holiday for this family but instead four out of the five of them suffered with serious gastric illnesses and the holiday will now be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

“It’s concerning to hear of these reports of illness at this resort as it is not the first time we have represented holidaymakers returning from this destination. We successfully concluded claims relating to holiday taken in 2008, 2009, 2012 and even last summer in 2014.

“Our clients have confirmed that a number of other holidaymakers were suffering with similar symptoms at the hotel and we would like to hear from others affected by the conditions they experienced at the resort.”

If you have also travelled to the Holiday Village Hotel in the Costa Del Sol, and subsequently suffered from symptoms of illness, or sustained an injury, we would like to hear from you.
