First Choice's Holiday Village, Tenerife
International personal injury lawyers from Irwin Mitchell are concerned to discover reports of an illness outbreak at First Choice’s Holiday Village in Tenerife in 2015.
According to reports in The Sun newspaper, dozens of guests have contracted gastric illness with symptoms including stomach cramps, diarrhoea and sickness. Alarmingly, it has also been suggested that some of the holidaymakers have developed cryptosporidium, an infection that can cause long-term health conditions.
Representatives from First Choice have said checks are being undertaken and they are aware of a small number of illness cases.
This is not the first time guests have become ill at the hotel, Irwin Mitchell’s specialist travel solicitors successfully helped clients claim compensation following stays at the Holiday Village in both 2011 and 2012.
Furthermore, according to reports in 2013, a party of 24 visitors became ill whilst staying at the hotel. Some of these guests had to be hospitalised and a child from the group had to remain under medical supervision for three days.
Other holidaymakers have previously outlined a number of hygiene concerns at the hotel including: the swimming pool being unclean, a strong smell of sewage being present in hotel rooms and birds flying around the snack bar.

"We were very happy with the outcome of our case, especially as we were initially offered nothing from the Tour Operator. Irwin Mitchell were very professional throughout and we are very happy with the outcome."
