Hotel Los Gigantes, Tenerife 2011
Irwin Mitchell have been contacted by a large number of dissatisfied holidaymakers who stayed at the Hotel Los Gigantes in Tenerife in Spain 2011 where they contracted gastric illness. Even to the present day guests who stayed at the Hotel earlier this year are still contacting Irwin Mitchell to bring a claim against the tour operator. Holiday makers were also dissatisfied with the poor standards in the Hotel.
This is not the first time Irwin Mitchell have been contacted by clients who have travelled to the resort and who have suffered illness as a result. Irwin Mitchell are currently acting for 76 people who stayed at the resort in 2010 In addition to the vast group action for 2011.
Holiday makers suffered with severe gastric illness and some even required medical assistance abroad. Guests suffered from a range of symptoms including, severe diarrhoea, abdominal cramps, lethargy and fatigue, headaches and fever.
Many complaints have been made by holidaymakers about the general standard of the Hotel. Guests had serious concerns about the food being served in the Hotel. Holidaymakers report that food was served at incorrect temperatures and left uncovered for long periods of time. Many confirmed that fresh food was being placed on top of existing food and meat and eggs were undercooked, they had strong suspicions that food was being re used in the restaurant.
Holidaymakers are also very concerned about the general hygiene of the Hotel as they have reported a lack of cleanliness in certain areas of the Hotel. Holidaymakers highlighted the bathrooms as a cause for concern as they were not cleaned to a reasonable standard. Furthermore, flies in the restaurant and dirty and chipped plates and cups lead for more cause for concern. Many stated the Hotel was dated, shabby and highly undeserving of the praise it was given in the Thomson’s brochure.
