Illness At Hotel Los Gigantes, Tenerife
Solicitors at the law firm Irwin Mitchell have been contacted again by holidaymakers who stayed at the Hotel Los Gigantes in Tenerife in Spain 2011 and who are complaining of suffering illness whilst staying at the holiday resort.
Holiday makers have informed us they fell ill with gastric symptoms including diarrhoea, sickness, vomiting, abdominal pain, fever and nausea. Since returning to the UK some are still suffering continuing symptoms of gastric illness and lethargy.
We have reason to believe there are significant breaches of health and hygiene regulations at the resort after a customer who stayed at the resort in November 2011 contracted salmonella. The guest in question is now also hospitalised in the UK with suspected kidney failure that may be connected to the salmonella infection.
Many complaints have also been made by holidaymakers about the general standard of the Hotel. Guests had serious concerns about the food being served in the Hotel. The guests report that food was served at incorrect temperatures and often they were served meat and other foods that were undercooked and inedible to the customer.
Holidaymakers raised specific and numerous concerns about the general hygiene in the Hotel. Many guests stated that both the Hotel rooms and communal areas were unhygienic and of a very poor standard.
We are already investigating claims for over 40 people who stayed at the resort last year of which the vast majority fell ill with gastric illness. All have made complaints about the poor standard of the resort.
Irwin Mitchell is already representing 78 clients who suffered illness or loss of enjoyment at this resort in 2010. We are concerned to learn that people are still continuing to fall ill at this hotel in 2011.
