We’ve been contacted by a family who fell ill during a holiday to the Vik Gran Hotel in Spain last year in July.
They told us how they all suffered from gastric illness during their holiday, describing symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach cramps. Their symptoms were severe enough that they had to seek advice from a local pharmacy and get medication whilst on holiday.
The whole family continued to be ill even when they returned home. Their youngest child had to visit the GP due to her ongoing symptoms.
Although the hotel has garnered some positive reviews online, the family report that food would be left out for long periods of time during breakfast, lunch and dinner, and that sometimes the same dishes from earlier would reappear at different sittings throughout the day.
Gastric symptoms can range from mild diarrhoea to abdominal cramps and blood in stools. We have significant experience helping those unlucky enough to contract gastric illness while on holiday.
