Irwin Mitchell are concerned to learn of reports of gastric illness at the Omar Khayam Club Hotel, Tunisia, 2014.

Despite positive reviews holidaymakers who stayed at the hotel this summer described the hotel as the “worst hotel ever” and said it “was a disgrace”. Another holidaymaker said that some of the chicken was “red raw inside” and the holiday was “truly awful”. Another holidaymaker and their party were “very ill” and said that some of the group have been diagnosed with “salmonella poisoning”.

Salmonella can lead to symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach cramps and lethargy and can also lead to long term health complications. Common causes of the potentially life threatening illness range from consuming contaminated food and drink, poor hygiene procedures and undercooked or poorly prepared foods.
