Skanes Family Resort

The specialist International Personal injury team at Irwin Mitchell has been instructed to act on behalf of clients who became ill after travelling to the Skanes Family Resort in Skanes, Monastair, Tunisia on an all-inclusive basis in June 2014. 

Irwin Mitchell also act for 2 families who became ill after staying at the hotel in 2013, one of whom contracted cryptosporidium. Cryptosporidium is a water borne infection which can cause symptoms of diarrhoea and stomach cramps, and can be contracted from swallowing contaminated water or swimming in a pool. 

Despite some positive reviews, Irwin Mitchell is concerned for holidaymakers after repeated reports of illness amongst guests staying at the hotel. One holidaymaker who stayed at the hotel in October 2013 said that some of the sheets and sun loungers were dirty and that on one occasion they saw half a mouse head under their table in the restaurant area. 

Holidaymakers have complained about the quality of some of the food being served in the restaurant. One said that some of the chicken being served was undercooked and noticeably pink in the middle. Furthermore guests have said food was served lukewarm at times and served up on more than one occasion. Another holidaymaker reported seeing on occasion cats in the dining area licking plates used by guests.
