Skanes Family Resort, Tunisia 2013
Irwin Mitchell has received reports from holidaymakers who became ill after travelling to the Skanes Family Resort in Skanes, Monastair, Tunisia on an all inclusive basis in the summer of 2013 and as recently as October 2013.
Despite some positive reviews, a number of holidaymakers have reported that they have suffered from illnesses during holidays taken at the hotel.
One holidaymaker who travelled as part of a large family group said that they had been advised by an environmental health officer on return to the UK that they had contracted cryptosporidium. Cryptosporidium is a water borne infection which can cause symptoms of diarrhoea and stomach cramps, and can be contracted from swallowing contaminated water or swimming in a pool.
One holidaymaker who stayed at the hotel in October said that some of the sheets and sun loungers were dirty and that on one occasion they saw half a mouse head under their table in the restaurant area.
Some holidaymakers have complained about the quality of the food being served in the restaurant. One said that some of the chicken being served was undercooked and noticeably pink in the middle. Another holidaymaker reported seeing cats in the dining area licking plates used by guests.
If you also travelled to this hotel and have subsequently suffered from symptoms of gastric illness, Irwin Mitchell, who specialise in dealing with cases of such nature, would like to hear from you.
